Battiston's Fabric Care Specialists, one of New England's largest dry cleaners, was founded in 1946 by Lino J. Battiston in West Hartford, CT. Lino began his career in 1930, at age 16, as a presser for a large dry cleaner and launderer in Hartford. During the next fourteen years the ambitious young Battiston graduated from the General Dry Cleaning and Dry Cleaning Management courses offered by the National Institute of Dry Cleaning in Silver Spring, Maryland, all the while working as a pants presser, spot remover and finally a manager of the Hartford firm.
