It's no fun! If it doesn't burn the house down, it will probably wreck your chimney and scare you half to death. Here's how it happens. Begin with one dirty chimney - let's say a fireplace that was not cleaned for a couple of years. The soot lining the chimney is saturated with flammable creosote (more detail is available on creosote in any dictionary).
After a winter of heavy use, your chimney is dirty - dirty way up inside where you can't see. And that's some dangerous dirt. Called soot and creosote, deposits from a fire's smoke, this tarry "dirt, " if left unswept, can ignite, setting the entire length of your chimney ablaze, and possibly burning down your home.

At Silver Lining Chimney Sweeps, Kevin is an extremely helpful expert. We previously had a chimney sweep clean our system, but our gas fireplace built up soot on the inside of the glass. Because Kevin's business is thriving, he was booked for the next 2 months. Nevertheless, he advised how we could adjust the air intake and solve the problem ourselves. Given Kevin's professional and expert approach, he will be our first call for all future fireplace services.

A totally terrific experience that combined a tutorial about our fire place, thoughts about the least smoky firewood to burn, and maintenance tips. Kevin not only texted us before coming to the house but also arrived early. He was patient, thorough, phenomenally tidy, and as fairly priced as anyone who bid our job. It's fun to see someone that good at and happy with his work. We recommend him with the utmost enthusiasm.

When the owner came out to my house, the dryer vent was 1 foot from the dryer so it didn't need cleaning. I did not know this when I scheduled it. He was here for 5 minutes and charged me 75.00. Most companies that are reputable would have just charged nothing or a minimal charge for gas. Do NOT use this Company!
