Mr Chimney

I called Mr. Chimney after I started getting rainwater into my chimney. The team came out a day or so later to inspect. Rey was super helpful, went up on the roof, took pictures and showed me the issues with the crown. Inside, he inspected the smoke chamber and pointed out the wear and what needed to be repaired to bring the chimney up to code and be safe.

He provided an estimate a day or so later for work on the damper, smoke chamber and to replace the crown. He was super responsive, answered my calls and answered my questions. For all the work to be done, they were very reasonable with their estimate. I decided to go with them for the job. Alex and his team showed up to do the work and I could not be more pleased.

They were super friendly, but most of all hardworking and super competent. He pointed out the issues I had and how he would fix them. They covered everything in plastic, wore "booties" and honestly, not a speck of dust or soot in the house. Tremendous. I would recommend Mr. Chimney without reservation. They are excellent.

Came to fix my gas fireplace. Hasn't worked since. The techs were nice, but nobody ever calls me back. Ever. I was always promised a call back, but it never happened. And I call and call and a woman answers and tells me someone will call me back. It's a lie. All lies, they have my $500 and I guess they're done with me now.

They came for cleaning but found "deficiencies" in my chimney which, in their opinion, made the chimney unusable. So they left. It is an old fireplace that probably needs some non-critical repairs but we used it weekly for the last 8 years with no issues. However, they decided not to clean it because it is not fully compliant with their code. Not sure was it the liability issue (?) or the crew just wanted to go home.

Instead of cleaning, they left me an estimate for $2000+ in repairs they are willing to perform. I was a bit surprised about this "code police" twist, and called other company that cleaned the chimney right away with no drama. Even if they were right about the repairs, the good place for me to start was to see how thoroughly they do the cleaning. Both cleaning and repairs estimates from Mr Chimney were somewhat higher priced than other companies I contacted. Shop around.

Unfortunately have had a terrible experience with this Company. Had asked for help with a down draft, they ended up removing my existing cap, installed new ones (which look terrible by the way) and more importantly now I have water coming down my chimney when it rains. Have had to call multiple times and the people that come to the house are not the ones that do the actual work.

I am now looking at potential repairs in excess of $5k (I can't even get this Company to call me back). I would not recommend having this Company do anything other than simple jobs. Wish I never called them.

Very professional from start to finish. Ardian took time to examine issue, explain the problem and suggest the solution. The technicians that arrived for the job were on-time, professional and gave exceptional service. Took before and after photos to show work that had been completed. Service performed: 1) Repaired Chimney Crown, Repointed top 5 rows of chimney, removed & cleaned moss from chimney shoulder & waterproofing 2) installation of new flue liner

Chimney sweep companies have bad reps for overcharging and taking advantage of customers. NOT Mr. Chimney! Honest, affordable and most of all Clean! Spent 8 hrs in my house on a major job, including removing bricks. When finished there was no sign of a contractors presence, let alone mason work! Unbelievable! No up charges, everything explained fully and shown before work. Highly recommend!

I phoned Mr. Chimney for an estimate after the technician who had cleaned our chimney and inspected the chimney and fireplace the previous month told me we would need repairs that came to just under $2,000. These included replacing the bottom damper, re-grouting the bricks, and repairing the firebox. It's a good thing I called Mr. Chimney for a second opinion.

Their technician found that the bottom damper was a bit rusty, but not close to needing to be replaced, and that everything else was just fine. Especially as a first-time customer, I really appreciate the technicians honesty. What more can I say about a technician who saved me close to $2,000 in unneeded repairs?

Needed some work done to my chimney and the lining and didn't know who to call. I was referred to Mr. Chimney and Howard and couldn't be any happier. Adam and Alex quarterbacked my issue and firplace/chimney repair. These guys provided stellar service, were extremely experienced, and offered a great value for the end result. I was experiencing a severe smoke leak on a newly purchased home, and Alex/Adam assured me the problem was fixable, and were true to their word. Everything functioning like new! Finally figured out why I was getting that fireplace smell in my home even if I hadn't used my fireplace! Drove me crazy, smelled like campfire in my house. Mike came to the rescue. Did a general sweep and determined my flue wasn't closing all the way. It was cracked just enough to let in the odors from my neighbors chimneys Now I just have to pull the flue closed harder. Thanks for figuring it out. Prompt service, reasonably priced, and friendly knowledgeable staff!

We've used Mr. Chimney three times since purchasing our home seven years ago. I first had Mr. Chimney sweep our chimney. A few years later we had them install a liner because we were switching to gas and were purchasing a new boiler. Most recently, Mr. Chimney hooked up a wood burning stove to our existing basement fireplace. I appreciate the work and professionalism we receive. Plus, the guys always make sure I understand the work that's been done.

Warning; they are not honest. They told me I had dangerous crystalline creosote that could only be removed with a power tool using chains, cost $600. Then I find out this device is likely to destroy my clay chimney liner and is over aggressive. Finally I learn from a competent chimney sweep that I only have a light coating of creosote that was easily removed with conventional wire brushes. I wonder if the business planted some of the favorable reviews. Why does this industry attract so many frauds?

Trusted contractors are hard to find in this business - and Mr. Chimney is one of good ones. I highly recommend them. I was very worried about having someone come and look at our "new" 100 year old home's fireplace and chimney, so I did a lot of research - and it paid off. As most of the other reviews have noted, I found them to be prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable.

They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need - and even suggested that my fireplace was in such good shape that it didn't require a cleaning. How's that for honesty? Ask for Adam if he's available!

I called and scheduled to have a chimney cap reinstalled. ( fell down after a hurricane) I gave them the dimensions of the cap which had fallen and was told that the basic fee for the service would be $149.00. I booked the appointment of which I had to wait 2 weeks. When they arrived immediately I was told that the cap could not be installed for the quoted price.

The workers also mentioned that my chimney was very high. After several calls from the worker to his boss, when he finally was able to speak to him, I was told that the cost would be $350.00. I wasn't aware that they charge according to the height of a chimney. Needless to say, I did not have the worked performed. I don't like doing business with bait and switch companies. Therefore, buyer beware. This company is not reliable.

Mr. Chimney was attentive and well-organized in booking my appointment. The technician Adam Deutsch was prompt, courteous and informative with my gas fireplace and flue. Positive experience all around, thank you!

Adam Deutsch removed an inoperable wood-burning fireplace for a gas fireplace. The work was done by consummate professionals in less than two days with a team of three men taking out the old and installing the new. The next day, one man made sure everything was correctly installed with the blower and remote. Mr. Deutsch supervised everything and returned to install new insulation behind the wall.

Everyone left the house as good as they found it and hauled away the discarded debris. Communication was easy, and Mr. Deutsch was always responsive letting me know exactly when he and the workmen would arrive. We had used this company to clean our chimney when we had a house. Now we have returned for their expert service for the new fireplace in our condo.

After posting my first review, I was contacted by the company to let me know they had computer issues and lost all their contacts. Within a few days we had an in home estimate, and a few days later the crew came to do the work. I was just able to use the fireplace for the first time, and I'm so happy to see it working properly!
