Where do I begin? I had a flood in my basement with about 3" of water due to sump pump quitting. First-lesson learned is NEVER use companies your insurance company refers (Nationwide in my case). I asked the rep several times if they receive remuneration from this company for referring them and never got an answer. First contact they showed up without an appointment so we rescheduled.

When they came in I specifically told the supervisor (?) that the stacked packages of waterproof flooring on my floor (nearly a thousand $ worth) should be left there. If anything the bottom one had gotten wet but the rest were stacked on top. They ended up in my back yard behind a picnic table and I didn't see them until after Christmas ( this event happened in September).

I really thought they were under one of the piles they made of things in the basement. When I complained I was told they could come back and remove and trash them. I want my flooring or the cost because they were not trash. They never spoke to me of how they were removing stuff that was "unsalvageable" according to them. They only spoke with the insurance company.

My coverage was only $5000 and Duraclean charged almost $3200 to remove stuff, cut drywall and place fans. They left large built-ins in front of my sump pump closet where I needed access to a water cut off and the new sump pump. I'm 71 so could you imagine how hard it was to move those things? My hose bib pipe split because of this and I now have that expense as well.

Not once did anyone on site consult with me about how this process would work and what was being pitched out. Also drywall was cut out and they hit my WiFi which was repaired by Verizon and it has never been right since. I had to ask for an itemization of their work and the cost and did finally get one but was initially told that list went to the insurer.

I questioned why the cost of the fans and dehumidifier rentals were so high-that was a huge chunk of their bill. I was told it was in line with industry standards which doesn't make it not exorbitant. If the company owns the equipment their charges shouldn't be that high in my opinion. If I had rented that stuff myself I would maybe expect the kind of price they listed.

The experience was horrible in every way and I'd never use them again. Once again word to the wise: Find your own contractors. I went with Nationwide's referral because I was so distraught about the mess and not thinking clearly. I've had some time to think about it and the only recourse now is to file a complaint with MHIC and/or small claims court for the flooring left out in the rain and snow and other issues.

It took me this long to post a review after this mess because I was dealing with a terrible bout of depression from it. Please think carefully before you accept your insurance company's referrals and final check. And- check your policy for your limits-the basement is in total disarray and $5000 was about a third of what I needed to clean it up and make it whole.

Duraclean's hotline is open 24/7 and that worked in our favor when our lower level seemed to be flooding with water. I was able to chat with Tina at almost 10pm and schedule their team to come out the following morning. Very efficient and friendly employees and I won't hesitate to use their services in the future should the unfortunate happen again.

After another company did the cleanup of a septic backup our insurance company recommended Duraclean to restore everything that was ruined. They worked on drywall and pulling tile up without covering any of our belongings. Everything was covered in dust including furniture, walls, bar, wall furnishings etc. I heard a lot of excuses and there was total disregard for sloppy work.

I had to get angry with the supervisor to make him understand that I wasn't going to accept bad workmanship. Finally they sent the best employee they have to fix things. He was professional and worked hard to make everything right. The company then charged my insurance to clean up the mess their employees made. Thank goodness they have a terrific cleaning crew. Overall it was a very long and stressful experience and shouldn't have been.

I will update this review pending the company coming back out, but I would never recommend this company to anyone. Three separate times I've had them come out to fix something they overlooked. Each time there was a new issue with it. This company also seems to prefer speed over quality. ***UPDATE*** The owner of the company came out took a look at the problem I had and quickly remedied it.

While my experience with the company was not ideal, the owner is someone who really is all about customer satisfaction. My problem was with a subcontractor not the actual company.

Awesome team of people. After a second water event/flood in our basement at the end of 2020, Duraclean handled everything from clean up of wet carpet&padding, spraying anti-microbial solution, bringing big fans in, moving personal items into storage to a "Unit" in our driveway, installing new carpet, and moving personal items back into our home/basement. Thank u DcS

Unfortunately my insurance co called in this Duraclean Services in Maryland when we had a flood earlier this year. The WORST service I have ever had to deal with. If I could give them less than a star then I would.

I called Duraclean at 5pm on a Friday when my water heater leaked water all over the basement. Three guys showed up before 6 pm. They cleared out my entire basement of carpet and set up machines to dry the water in just a few hours and took all the mess with them. When I talked to the insurance adjuster on Monday his first response was we needed to clean up the mess and check for mold since I had water all weekend.

I told him I didn't have water all weekend Duraclean came and it's completely dry. Because Duralcean was fast and didn't wait for the adjuster to approve the cleanup I had so much less damage and headache. Then they came back and fixed the walls, trim, doors, and installed beautiful carpet. I didn't have to call anyone else they took care of the entire job start to finish.

We got Duraclean services through our insurance company. The problem is major water damage from a bathroom pipe in the third floor. The water ran through 3 floors and down all the way to the basement. The basement is 900 sq ft and had several cabinets to store rarely used serving dishes, cleaning supplies, sports equipment - and importantly, 3 closets full of my best clothing: gala gowns, 100% silk blouses, European national costumes (each about 3000 USD as they have hand-made fabrics), expensive leather suit etc. etc.

When assessing the damage I went to the basement with Duraclean workers and we all agreed that the particleboard closets in the basement had been damaged beyond repair. The clothes were not wet and did not even feel very damp when I checked them. I said that it did not seem to me that they needed to be carried to cleaner's. However, Duraclean workers assured me that it was best to take everything to dry cleaning as they were probably damp /musty.

I said that I was worried about the cleaning process for these very special dresses, but they reassured that the dry cleaning company was excellent and experienced. I said that I wanted all my gowns and dresses back on hangers, as all my clothing was neatly hanging on hangers in the cabinets and I did not want them get wrinkled. I was assured that I would get them on hangers.

Our basement had been piled from top to bottom and from door to wall with card board moving boxes, where Duraclean workers had packed all possible items which had been stored in the basement cabinets, which were now discarded. These items were, of course, OK, when I unpacked them. When we got new cabinets in and I started unpacking the big boxes, I found - to my HORROR- all my best clothing from the 3 cabinets been stuffed into the last 3 boxes, all the way back behind multiple other boxes.

And I mean STUFFED. Imagine 3 cabinets full of gowns and formal dresses being stuffed into 3 cardboard boxes! The silk blouses were as wrinkled as if they had been squeezed in somebody's fist. The national costumes and some other wool-fabric clothes had mold especially in the creases after being packed when obviously moist. Imagine the gala gowns.

They cannot even be ironed. Nobody had told me that the company changed the agreed plan and decided not take the clothes to dry cleaning, after all. In that case I would have hung them in our multiple empty bedrooms on hangers to air them out and without them getting wrinkled or growing mold. When I called the company manager, what I got in response was excuses, in monotone, explanations etc.

But NO empathy, no apology! I was furious and said that he should at least apologize. He kept repeating that "things happen", "we have been doing this for a long time", "I will find out what happened". He was not able to utter "I am extremely sorry and I apologize" even when I asked him to repeat these words! I would have not bothered to write this review if he had been able to express true remorse, apologize and have some empathy in his voice.

None of that! Medical malpractice suits are more likely to happen when doctors do not express empathy and don't apologize after things did not go well. I bet customers - like me- are more likely to write this kind of review when after an unprofessional mistake the company owner is not able to express apology or empathic regret.
