Chimney liners are one of the most important parts of your fireplace system as a whole. The chimney liner of your fireplace helps send hot flue gases into the outside air. Because they are so important, chimney liners need to be sized correctly for your fireplace. Excessively large liners cause smoke to move too slowly up your chimney, which can cause a chimney fire.

Highly recommend finding another company! I hate writing bad reviews, but unfortunately our experience is not one I would want anyone else to deal with. Scheduled a chimney inspection, possible chimney cleaning and a dryer vent cleaning. Technicians showed up early, so we were off to a great start! Quickly went downhill from there. Technician didn't bring the tools for the dryer vent cleaning, told me I would have to schedule another appointment and didn't know what to charge me for the chimney inspection. Technician swore up and down the chimney was clean and great!

He left, I called to schedule the dryer vent cleaning for another time and the manager apparently called and "chewed" the technician out. He came back 25 minutes later, very upset, banged around my house and sarcastically told me, "I'm so glad you called my boss and got me chewed out." He did a terrible job cleaning out the dryer vent and complained the entire time.

When he finished, he again had no idea what the charge was. The owner texted me that day to see how it went, I told him the details and he responded, "Sorry for the inconvenience. Please call to schedule us in the future." A day later, Quality Control from A Step In Time calls to tell me that after inspecting the report, our fireplace was actually not up to code and asked if we were told that.

I responded, no I had no idea and was told it was good. He promised to work on it and call me back. Here we are two weeks later, no call back. Had another company out to check both and this company found the dryer vent to be compacted at the end PLUS a chimney not up to code. The only thing giving this one star were the awesome receptionist and manager. Don't waste your time or money on A Step In Time, they clearly aren't out for the good of their customers.

Step In Time responded quickly to my requests, refurbished and certified my chimney with zero hassle. The price came out to almost half of their competitor and the work was completed in one afternoon. Very good service from Mike and his crew.

I consider the work done by Step-in-Time to be a complete rip off. Tried to do charge me for unneeded work ie seal the tops of our chimeys which had been already previously lsealed, and reparge the inside of our fireplace. Work that had not been discussed. Most importantly they sent three workers to clean some moss off one chimney and water seal it and a second chimney. Clearly, tis work could have been by one person, maybe 2.

Lot of standing around doing nothing. The work took 2 hours to complete. heck I paid them more than I pay my lawyer! Don't hire this company! I have no complaints about the work crew. they were honest and believe would have worked if there was work that really needed to be done.

My experience with a Step in Time was like dealing with 2 different companies. I had an inspection and estimate performed and it went great, Scott showed, was professional, knowledgeable and personable. I felt at ease enough that we scheduled several thousand dollars of chimney repair without even getting other quotes, we just liked them. The work was scheduled a week and half later, I got a confirmation email the day before, I had emailed Scott and he replied on exactly what we wanted done, all looked good.

Then on the day when the work was supposed to happen, nobody showed up. No crew, no foreman, no call. 2 hours after their scheduled time, I called the main office receptionist, who got in touch with the foreman, she told me he'd call me back soon. another hour and a half goes by, I call the office again, this time the receptionist speaks to a manager that had her relay he'd call me back immediately ( I was already wary). Nothing.

I've never dealt with a company who just ghosts their customers like this, doesnt show, doesnt call back, anything. It's extra frustrating when you're already taking time off work to meet them, and then while you're on hold with the main office as they try to find the crew, the little hold music recording keep telling you how good they are at scheduling and prioritizing your time. I've given up on calling them, if they ever call back I'll happily tell them I've gone with another company, I recommend you do the same if you value your time.

Step in Time did a great job in replacing the liner in my chimney as well as repairing my roof. Scott took the time to explain what needed to be done and made sure that everything was complete and the whole area was cleaned up before they left. He and his crew were on time, professional, and polite. I would recommend them to anyone needing these services.

We initially hired A Step in Time to make some minor repairs on our chimney. They contractor, Damien, and the owner, Scott, were unlike any other I have experienced. They communicated with us from start to finish. They were thorough and professional. During this time, we learned our roof needed to be replaced as well. Once we found out this company also had a roofing division, we hired them.

We could not be happier. The service and professionalism from start to finish is unmatched. We had a couple of "punch list" items following the completion of our roof, that were addressed and rectified immediately. We gladly and highly recommend A Step in Time to anyone and will use them if needed again in the future.
